Dental Hunters Will Be Exhibiting at Yankee Dental Congress 2013

We are excited to announce that Dental Hunters will be exhibiting at Yankee Dental Congress January 31st -February 2nd.  Our entire team will be in attendance so I encourage everyone to stop by our booth (#229) to say hi to meet the team and to learn exactly how our video interviewing technology can help with your hiring needs. We look forward to a great show and seeing everyone there!

Dental Hunters Has Launched It’s New Video Player

I am happy to announce that Dental Hunters is back online and we are using a new video player by Influxis.  This technology will drastically improve the quality of the videos taken by the job seeker and seen by the employer. We appreciate everyones patience while we were offline.  This upgrade will add to the overall user experience for both employers and job seekers within the dental community.

Dental Hunters Is Under Construction

Dental Hunters is going through some necessary maintenance to improve our user experience with our media player and our video interviewing technology.  Unfortunately, during this time, our media player will be out of order while our technology is being updated.  Our updates will be completed by January 24th, 2013.  Thank you for your understanding and your patience.

Dental Hunters Adds Carole Holcroft to the Advisory Board

Carole Holcroft, owner and founder of Crown Dental Options, a dental consulting firm, brings a great deal of expertise and experience to Dental Hunters. For eight years Carole has been coaching dentists, helping them make their practices more successful utilizing her unique blend of business and leadership programs. She has authored numerous articles including “How much is your time worth?” and “Growing in business and life” published in Doctor of Dentistry – A business and lifestyle magazine for dentists.

“Being at the cutting edge of any industry is always an exciting place to be and Dental Hunters is exactly that, within the dental community. People are the lifeblood of any organization and finding personnel who are talented but who mesh with the culture and chemistry of a practice is often overlooked. However, finding the right fit is critical, without it, as many dentists will attest, life can be miserable. Dental Hunters has a fresh and unique approach to staffing and I am happy and honored to be invited to be a part of their Advisory Board. I am certainly hoping that my experience will contribute to their success,” said Carole.

Carole has an extensive background in leadership and communication, business development, practice management, compliance, risk management and personal coaching within the dental community. She is a member of the International Association of Coaching, an affiliate member of the Institute of Coaching Professional Association at Mclean Hospital – a Harvard Medical School affiliate, a Licensed PRINT® Personality and Behavioral Coach a member of Toastmasters International and also serves on the board of directors of a local non-profit organization.

“Adding Carole to our Advisory Board helps Dental Hunters further understand what it takes to build a successful practice.  Carole brings expertise from working with a variety of dental practices.  It is the type of insight that we need to take Dental Hunters to the next level,” said Kevin Collins, CEO of Dental Hunters.

Rhode Island Dental Association (RIDA) endorses Dental Hunters video interviews

Dental Hunters has formed another partnership with a New England dental association, this time, with the Rhode Island Dental Association. RIDA has over 600 members which represent over 90 percent of all practicing dentists in the state and will all have the opportunity to utilize Dental Hunters video interviews at a preferred rate.

“The RIDA is pleased to endorse Dental Hunters to its membership. This is an exciting new concept that allows our members to search for and interview prospective dentists and other employees using the latest video technology. We hope that our members will find this service useful for hiring in their practices,” said Dr. Connor, Long-Term Delegate, Rhode Island Dental Association.

This is the second partnership that Dental Hunters has formed with a state association in just a few short weeks.  We plan to continue developing partnerships with other associations throughout New England and across the country.

Dental Hunters Partners with the New Hampshire Dental Society

Today, I’m happy to announce that Dental Hunters has officially partnered with the New Hampshire Dental Society. As a result of the partnership Dental Hunters, is now the only dental recruiting company that the New Hampshire Dental Society is promoting to its member base of close to 1,000 members.

“When I was first approached by Dental Hunters I was intrigued by their idea.  We are always looking for ways to make the lives of our members less complicated and this seemed like an idea that would appeal to them. Upon further study, our Endorsement Committee agreed that this was an innovative idea that could benefit our members in their efforts to improve their hiring processes and thus upgrade their ability to serve their communities better.  Our Board agreed with their recommendation and we moved forward with this endorsement.  We are excited about the possibilities for the future, “said James J. Williamson, Executive Director of New Hampshire Dental Society.

As a result of this partnership we will be working closely with all of the members of the society to help them find the most qualified job seekers using Dental Hunters’ video interview technology.

DVI – Dental Video Interviews

How many times have we heard someone say “the more things change the more things stay the same?”  This phrase was coined by the French novelist Alphonse Karr in the late nineteenth century and many of us seem to accept it as fact.  But maybe we should not!  In my first architectural class over 45 years ago my professor asked the class what may have seemed a simple question: “When Rome was built millennia ago it faced the same problems as it does today – traffic, housing, sanitation, providing water, food and fuel – so what is the difference?”  Of course the answer is the magnitude of the challenge and therefore the need to provide new and better solutions.  Maybe the ends have stayed the same but the means have surely evolved.

When I started working with dentists forty years ago they faced many of the same problems as they face today. These included how to reach out to potential patients and maintain their existing ones, keeping their offices updated and efficient as technology changed and where to find friendly and efficient staff members to fill dental jobs in clinical and business areas of the office.  I am often asked “how has the profession changed in all these years?”  There are the obvious answers such as the implementation of procedures to make the dental environment safe for patients and staff (with a boost from OSHA), the introduction of air powered handpieces, ergonomically designed equipment and, of course, the use of computer technology in many phases of dentistry.  These include digital radiography, CAD-CAM milling machines, dental video intraoral cameras and diagnostic units, charting systems and office management programs.  Yet the procedure for interviewing job seekers in the dental office has not changed drastically.  Yes, postings are now done on electronic posting boards and resumes are e-mailed instead of “snail-mailed” but offices are still expending valuable chairside or office time screening job seekers who, even when they have appointments, fail to show up, many times without the courtesy of a phone call.

Now Dentalhunters.com affords the person responsible for filling those dental jobs the opportunity to use modern technology to conduct dental video interviews (DVI) efficiently and economically.  By creating customized questions for job seekers to answer via Dental Hunters Connect and having the ability to view and re-view the recorded answers at a convenient time and place, you will save time and money and reduce the stress caused by this process.  Try it out and see how much easier the hiring process can be at Dentalhunters.com, your source for dental video interviews in today’s electronic world of dentistry.

How do we search for dental jobs today?

I have the luxury of working at a dental school in Boston when time allows. One of the benefits of working in that environment is that you get a pulse on how the new generation of dentists view dentistry and view life. Technology is a big part of they’re upbringing and experiences. It’s second nature to younger and newer dentists to incorporate technology into their lives, and into they’re practices. Technology used to mean that you had digital X-rays or a practice management software program. Well, no more. Technology is present in dentistry more today than ever before, and only continues to move forward changing the way many of us have to practice and develope our dental team. We need people who are more and more experienced with technology and how it integrates within a successful practice. In my last blog I focused on the antiquated notion and techniques of the interview process. This is already changing with the advent of multiple companies, including our own, that specialize in dental job postings trying to connect those who are hiring with those who are looking. However, dental job postings on the Internet, whether it’s Craigslist, Monster, your local paper on line , all fail to incorporate current technology now at their disposal. What they have just become is a go between for the same old faceless resume, now just a quicker transaction. You are still left with the same old options after you have reviewed these resumes. It goes like this….”call applicant, possible phone interview, bring applicant in, give tour of office, meet some staff, interview with office manager, talk with dentist briefly between patients perhaps, and then determine that they are not a fit.” Then on to the next one. Wow! Is this how far we’ve come?
Our idea was simple….let’s incorporate video interviewing technology into this process. Then, let’s allow the applicant to answer submitted questions during the video process. Result?? Saving both parties time and money and assuring the  best fit.    They’ve been utilizing this technology for on-line romance for years!!!! So we have created Dental Hunters Connect and now regardless of the job posting board you use, you can create video content that can be accessed by employers to streamline the interview and hiring process. You can narrow down candidates for a particular position to the few that best fit your needs. Now you can invite these candidates to your office to get a feel. Now you are better able to make an informed cost and time saving decision as to who that new member of your dental team is going to be. Teams in professional sports utilize all types of technology to determine who’s best to represent their team and it’s philosophy. It’s about time we do the same. Our teams just as valuable when it comes to building , maintaining, and increasing our brand. Incorporate Dental Hunters Connect and be a part of technology rather than watching it pass you by….

The Changing Face of Dentistry

By: Dr. Moftah El-Ghadi, DMD, COO, Dental Hunters.

The changing face of dentistry is a theme you often hear repeated over and over again at many dental conferences, seminars and study groups. It is very true, dentistry is changing due to technologies that are being implemented but mostly in the clinical setting. What I’ve heard little about is how technology is affecting other parts of the practice, more specifically one that has a huge impact on the success rate and profitability of dental offices. What I’m talking about is the interviewing and hiring process.

Odds are that regardless of the year you graduated dental school and started practicing, you carry out your interviews much the same as you always have, with little change in either style or delivery. The same may not be said for the type of clinical dentistry you are practicing. So, why continue interviewing the same way you always have? Probably because there’s never been an alternative.

Dental Hunters and its signature product, Dental Hunters Connect,an asynchronous video interview platform, is changing the way the dental industry recruits, interviews and hires. Here’s why: Let’s say you need an associate, assistant or any other auxiliary staff to fill a position within your practice, but you simply don’t have the time or energy to start looking for qualified applicants. You ask your office manager to look through countless faceless resumes and ask colleagues if they know anyone looking for a job, only to then take time out of your schedule to conduct several interviews. What happens? The interviews go nowhere, you have wasted time and money and you’re still on the hunt for qualified staff. Traditional interviewing methods are time consuming, often ineffective and money losers! Dental Hunters helps you avoid having many of the wrong applicants come through your office door saving you both time and money.

Building a team is such an important step in creating a quality and profitable practice. There is very little in a dentist’s work day that is both simple and convenient so the beauty of this technology is that it is easy to use and is meant to complement your current recruiting initiatives. Through Dental Hunters Connect you can ask the job seeker to answer a multitude of either standard (provided by Dental Hunters) or your own tailored questions. The job seeker can take the time to capture their best responses to each question and showcase their personality through the video interview. You then can review the completed interview and resume as an entire package after your work day is over with no loss of chair time. Rest assured that by the time your chosen candidates arrive for in person interviews, you will have chosen the best of the best and can make an informed decision as to who will be that new important member of your dental team.
